There are many dogs that always do as they are told and there is never a problem with them running out of your yard. You may never have to worry that they are going to wander too far from the house and get lost, or even worse, bite someone. However, as great as that sounds, there are few dogs that are going to be perfect all of the time, and many owners would not really want them to be anyway. A soft dog crate is probably the most versatile dog crate available. First of all a soft dog crate is very transportable. It is very light weight so it can be taken almost anywhere. They are usually made of fabric that covers a very light aluminum frame which is easily collapsible. This feature comes in handy if you don’t have the space in your home or automobile for a standard un-collapsible dog crate. If you are traveling, a soft dog crate can be collapsed and stored in the overhead bins on an airplane. It is also great to take on camping trips.

The most basic rule for effective puppy training is consistency.
Be consistent, with no exceptions. Consistency in body language, words and actions is the key ingredient to effective basic puppy training, especially if you want the training to go as rapidly and as easily as possible.
First decide exactly what you are trying to teach or control and how you plan to do it. If you are going to use a certain word or phrase as part of a command in conjunction with a certain hand signal or head movement, always say the exact same thing in the same tone of voice accompanied by the same actions.
This is important for all the members of a household or anyone else working with you to train the puppy. Everyone that is involved in the training the puppy should know and use the same expressions with the same body language.

Dogs love routine! They seek and require structure and rules. Knowing the rules and having structure leads to a balanced mind, happy disposition, and healthy body. And a balanced dog is an asset to the family. Knowing the rules of crate training can provide the structure for balance for a new puppy, an adult dog from a shelter, or an elderly dog from a rescue organization.
Having a clear picture of the rules of crate training and the positive experience you expect to happen will help you in introducing your dog to his crate. Crate training is important as it will insure your dog is not stressed out when he has to travel and also gives him a “place of his own” inside your home. Just like any other type of training, crate training has some rules that you should follow in order to be successful. Below are the 5 rules of crate training.
1. Your dog should associate the crate with safety and comfort, so never use it for punishment because this will make your dog want to avoid the crate instead of making him want to go in it.
2. Crate training can and should be a positive experience for your dog and for you. Introduction to the crate should be gradual and gentle so as not to frighten your dog. Food or toy rewards can help cement a positive impression of the crate.
3. Do not place your dog into the crate until he or she has gotten an opportunity to go outside and do its business. It’s not fair to expect a dog to “hold it”, especially a puppy who may be physically unable to hold it. Urinating in the crate will reinforce a negative experience.
4. Once you let your dog out of his crate, be sure to bring him outside immediately to relieve himself. This will help to get your dog on a schedule and can greatly assist in housebreaking.
5. Never put your dog in the crate if he is stressed, anxious or scared. In fact, going into the crate should be your dogs idea. You want him to feel like it is a safe haven from him to go to, otherwise he won’t want to be in there.

One of the reasons why dogs are so easily trained, it’s because they understand both, verbal command and hand signals. When both types of commands are used properly in dog training the dog great results can be obtained.
As there are no formal dog obedience hand signals for dog training you are able to as well take advantage of generally applied basic commands which constitute of the heel, sit, down, come and stay.
